Health Promotion Officer assists health and community groups to improve the health of
individuals and the community by raising awareness of healthy lifestyles, disease and
disability, and other health-related issues.
Entry Requirements:
• NQF Level 1 or equivalent competences in Mathematical Literacy and Communications
Job Opportunities:
• HPOs are employed by health departments or health services located in the
community
• HPOs work as Aids Educator, Caregiver, Health Promoter, Community Health Worker,
Diabetes Educator, Health Education Officer, Health Educator, Public Health Officer;
Tuberculosis Educator designated project managers, project officers, project
consultants, evaluation and research officers, communication officers.
Further Education and Training Certificate: CYCW – NQF Level 4, 165 Credits
Occupational Certificate: CYCW – NQF Level 5, 190 Credits
The qualification in Child and Youth Care Worker provides for continuous learning and a further career pathing towards NQF Level 6 qualification e.g. National Diploma in Child and Youth Care Work. Child and Youth Care Workers are registered with SACSSP
Entry Requirements:
• Communication Skills at NQF Level 3 or equivalent
• Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3
The qualification in social auxiliary work provides for continuous learning and a further career
pathing towards NQF Level 7 qualification e.g. Bachelor of Social Work.
Social Auxiliary Workers are registered with SACSSP
Entry Requirements (Minimum):
• NQF Level 4 qualification or equivalent
